Wide and diverse selection of several short pieces, composed by this prolific spanish musician during the last two years. It features quite a variety of sonic materials, from very atmospheric to quite fast-paced, and everything in between, including pieces made with recordings from planes, a piece for an instrumental ensemble, etc. The whole is quite cohesive and strong work, very characteristic and intense.

Francisco López is musician from Madrid, active since 1980. His music is usually made of various field recordings, using the environmental sound as the source for composition. These compositions can be absolutely different in both sonic and dynamic approach, atmospheric and fast paced fragments can be associated with real soundscapes and more abstract images. Sometimes it takes much attention, but finally tell us about art of listening, whether it's noise or silence.

López produced about 150 recordings at this moment, released albums on various labels and collaborated with such musicians as Rafael Flores, John Duncan, Zbigniew Karkowski, Marc Behrens, and Michael Northam. He travels a lot, makes new recordings with the help of his mobile studio facility, and performs worldwide. In the end of June 2005, he was visiting Russia, leaving people impressed with his exceptionally obscure performance.

His interests are spreading between various musical interpretations, but all of them are paying attention to the environmental sounds. López is enthomologist and has the degree in ecology - that's why the subject of his works are often influenced by natural envirronment. His first works were devoted to insects, microorganisms and rare forms of animal world. The feeling of easiness, inner structure of insular microclimatic area intended to describe the nature in its most authentic form. Later, López expanded his interests and started travelling the world, recording everything he find attractive.

López says, that all his works are trying to reach an ideal of absolute musique concréte, but in his point of view, all are different. You can see even the pieces commissioned by chamber orchestra, for example the untitled piece devoted to George Antheil. But in common sense, López' music is close to minimalism, with strong relation to the special attitude of aural perception.
But his aim overrides the linear documentation of travels and goimg further to present his own attitude to the sound of location. This album contains the wide overview of his work, showing the great variety of field recordings as well as compositions based on source materials by Rapoon, Tomas Phillips and Lawrence English amongst others.
